When Laura reached out to me this summer about updating her family photos, I was STOKED. I have worked with this family before, a few years ago when the youngest was only 9 months old, and their first session with me was one of my absolute favorites of all time.
Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, ME is a special place for this family. Laura spent all of her childhood summers up there, and now she brings her children up there every summer.
Toddlers and young children are not typically jazzed about sitting still and smiling for a camera - it's boring and I'm a stranger to them, so of course they'd rather run around and play! My approach with family photo sessions is always to embrace the chaos and let the kids be kids - and the results in this case truly capture the essence of a carefree, blissful summer night in my opinion. You can really see the kids' personalities shining through in this gallery, as well as the love this family shares.
Also, as a photographer note: I love seeing clients come back in another season of life because I get the honor of documenting their changing and growing family. As I mentioned, the littlest Elliott was only 9 months old when I last worked with this family, and now he's an absolute wildcard - talking and sprinting and just such a goofball!
